  1. The January 6th Investigation is not a criminal investigation. The January 6th Committee is not the DOJ, nor is it a grand jury. It’s a congressional fact finding investigation—and apparently well run with great discipline. Criminal investigations are different, and there is a both sides in that witnesses, targets, and suspects have rights and can hire attorneys to defend those rights. However, investigators and prosecutors need to establish that a crime occurred before it even gets to that point. It is not rare that criminal allegations don’t pan out and it can’t be determined that a crime was committed.
