  3. He doesn’t want the job. Or he doesn’t want to be seen wanting the job. Voting for himself wouldn’t have changed the outcome of the third round. These are the obvious answers before you go jumping to the conclusion that some secret deal was negotiated.

  4. I’ll go you one better: the Dems vote for Jordan en masse. Everyone will assume some deal was made. Jordan will deny it. Dems say, “no comment”, but a few of the hard left Dems say things like, “we look forward to working with our Republican colleagues to solve the problems we face, etc.”. MAGA would storm Congress a second time, this time to drag Jordan outside for a lynching. It would be the greatest political troll of all time. Then the Dems say to McCarthy, “Give us what we want or we will support you, too.”

  5. If the Dem caucus wanted to troll the hell out of off the GOP they could vote en masse for McCarthy on the next vote. They should do this with no deal in place, and when asked if there is a deal, say, “no comment”. MAGAs would come unglued.

So enjoy it while you may! 😂 The common wisdom is that the Dem caucus should stand back and watch the comedy unfold, but they could kill Jim Jordan’s career by supporting him. People would think he made a deal with the Dems, and the Dems could encourage this by saying, “No comment”. Get one of the leftists firebrands like AOC to say, “We look forward to working with our colleagues across the aisle”. The MAGAs would lose whatever shit they’ve managed to hold onto.
