  5.  @JasonBoyce  China wants a strong Russia? I think Russia’s performance in Ukraine has demonstrated to China’s leadership that it needs to rethink that desire. In fact, Putin has really annoyed Beijing by messing up the Ukrainian operation. They might have to kick Putin out of S.P.E.C.T.R.E. But what China will do is give Russia a lifeline while taking maximum advantage of Russia’s weakness. Putin will try to play India against China, but Modi isn’t stupid. He will also squeeze Russia for every concession he can get. When all is said and done, Putin has consigned Russia to being China and India’s gas tank.
