  1. I’ll say this in Bernie’s favor: What you see is what you get. He tells it like it is and doesn’t care if he’s popular or not. I’ve never supported him—in past elections I felt opposed to what I perceived as “overly progressive”. But he’s not afraid to tell uncomfortable truths and he doesn’t pander to people’s worst instincts.

  2. I’m a conservative (or I used to be, using the old definition of conservative). Bernie has character, and we’ve seen how important strength of character is over the past 5 years. While I’m not in favor of his overly progressive policies (not in general, anyway), I prefer it to the anti-democracy authoritarianism of GOP populism. I am surprised to say this, but I trust Bernie.
