  3.  @johnwong5317  It doesn’t sound like the PRC leadership used to time wisely to prepare the public health system. It’s already getting overwhelmed and the worst hasn’t started yet. The U.S. public health system was overwhelmed in some places when we hit some infection peaks, but the early lock down bought us enough time so that our health system didn’t totally crash. Too many people died because they couldn’t get proper care quickly enough, but it could have been a lot worse. By the time omicron hit (less deadly but more infectious) we were even more prepared. (It might be worth pointing out that some people are really bad at math. A virus that is less deadly is still deadly. If it’s significantly more infectious, you can still have more people die.)
