@atticustay1 I think it really is quite individual with these things. I consume perscription amphetamines often in the upper dosage range and dont find them remotely addicting or habit forming but alcohol has an odd pull to it i cant explain but that can definitely cause problems if im not careful. its probably a mix of personal chemistry, genetics, and life factors and stressors. For example, im unlikely to pick up an opiate problem because simply put i hate the feeling, every time ive taken them post surgery or after an injurty its just spins and nausea. I have a substantal amount of leftovers simply because i never take them unless the pain if bad enough where the nausia and spins is less of the two evils. Alcohol on the other hand which many people would generally consider less habit forming i have to be careful with because for some reason the genes in my familly means i simply dont get sick or hung over, theres no percived negitive penalty to use so as far as my lizard brain is concerned i should just always be drinking. the only thing i find odd about nicotine is ii dont enjoy it, and dont have side effects, yet for a bit there was still wierd craveings. Best i can describe it would be a persistant craveing for salted crackers while being adverse to salt. Thankfully faded after a month or so and that was that

@NaNAmbient the answer is easy. smart or "stupid" everyone knows smokeing can kill you, and everyone who smokes does it for the same reason, they tried it, they liked it and they ended up with a physical or emotional dependence. Humans like drugs, from all levels of intelligence and all economic backgrounds. for every guy in a trailer park with a pain pill problem you can find a guy high in a realestate firm doing the same thing, for every construction worker useing stimulants to make it through long hours you have a day trader getting wired to be there right when stocks open or an author burning into a bottle of adderall because hes hit his creative stride and does not want to risk forgetting in his sleep. its just how humans are
