@TheJustUsLeague There as no moonlight that night. Cameron just added it to his pic for dramatic purposes. It was inky black once Titanic's lights went out. Starlight helps identify the horizon, but that is all.

And, had the Californian been properly staffed and a lot of bad assumptions made she would have been there in an hour or so.

The fire in the boilerroom that nevervwent out and the soft rivets did more to condemn Titanic than the iceburg did. The design was good but the walls too short due to final compromise.

@pc_buildyb0i935 You have not spent much time reviewing Titanic, have you? I have spent hundreds of exploring the wreck via VR, reading books and watching videos. There are a lot of facets people do not know. For example: there are no known pictures of Titanic's interior - all the pictures purported to be Titanic are Olympic. Along those lines, the clock supposedly on the main staircase was never delivered in time. Manifests suggest she had a large mirror in its place. The fire WAS a big deal as it caused the steel in the area that eventually gave way to weaken. Combined with the rivets it was a major contributor to Titanic's sinking.

@pc_buildyb0i935 wrong. Many experts today say it significantly contributed to the wall buckling which was the real cause of her going diwn.

@pc_buildyb0i935 wrong. The last 1/2 of the rivets were soft and gave way when she hit the iceberg. It was not a gash that sunk her. I gave examined it in VR, and it was not a gash. Look up the purchase manifests, which are online.

@pc_buildyb0i935 wrong. The original plans for the Titanic had the water bulkhead going all the way upmto E deck. The owner wanted more cabins so they had them lowered by 2 decks. The original designs are available online.

@pc_buildyb0i935 it is clear you only have a passing knowledge of the Titanic. Spend a few more hundred hours studying her, including at least 50 exploring the wreck via VR, then your opinion will be grounded in reality, not mythology.

Biggest error: light. That night was a new moon. Once Titanic's lights failed, she was almost impossible to see.

Thanks for this. I "dive " to Titanic frequently using Titanic VR. She has deteriorated a good bit in the few years since they assembled that 1/2 million stills to create the 3d model. I don't know how much of the debris field was mapped but I did find the forward hatch 100 yards forward of the bow. I will "dive" again in a day or so to look for tye grate and davits see what else I can find. I have become a VORACIOUS devourer of all things Titanic. Now I need to visit the museum.

You HAVE to get a VR headset and spend time in Titanic VR. I have been studying Titanic, including dozens of hours "diving" and exploring the wreck. Some trivia to add to this is that, due to a last minute crew change, the lookout did not have binoculars. Oh, and Titanic never had the clock on the main staircase. For some reason, lost to history, there are no pictures of Titanic's interior. The pictures purported to be Titanic (including the cloxk) are of Olympic.
