@bbb462cid I absolutely agree. A rifle will never ever be better than it's ammo. Throwing lathe made projectiles and pico-gram measured powder at a wallowed out bore can, at best, take a bad group with random outliers into a bad group with fewer outliers. But on the other hand a super tight rifle suffers as much as a decent one from ammo where the projectiles dance Moringa more than they spin and the recoil varies between sturdy push and donkey kick between each shot.

I shot 198 points out of 200 on a 4" center at 300 meters routinely with my beaten up iron sight H&K G3 (that the Danish army had bought second hand from Germany for 1 Dmark each) back in the 90s. If the barrel is in good condition I don't think I would have any problem blowing the head off someone at 500m with this primitive 2.5X scope. While those aren't "sniper distances" I would still vastly prefer this old lady to any 5.56 rifle on the market if I was the designated marksman. My shoulder, however, would probably disagree as 30.06 is a potent cartridge and these aren't exactly heavy rifles.
