  1. No, that is correct. Colt were some of the first to mass market automatics with reliable extractions, so their ammo specifications were adopted far and wide. There are a slew of European guns already from the 1920s that use various ACP cartridges. Today the 38, 44 and 45 are rare though. Almost everything is in 9mm ACP or 9mm Parabellum now.
