BWAHAHA! Thanks for the laugh! :D

I'm starting to get the sense that the Chinese gunsmiths of the time weren't acquainted with the concept of "aiming"....

You and I apparently have different perceptions about what constitutes brave and what constitutes stupid! :P

They didn't really use the concept of aiming. I'm not kidding you. This has been observed in Africa as well. A bunch of Somali pirates were captured and all their AKs were set to the longest range sight. When asked about it they rudely answered that only an idiot doesn't know that the rifle shoots harder the more you wind it up. These guns were simply made to look as much like an import gun as possible because that commanded a better price. And no, the "gun smith" didn't have the first clue about anything other than "it must go bang!".

@axelpatrickb.pingol3228 I know this is pedantic, but you can't copyright a physical object. You can patent it's workings, but that patent is only valid in the jurisdiction you patented it in. Design patents (that is, "copyright for looks") didn't come until much later.

If the kickstarter hits one million they will get a steady-rest and a high-speed cam out to do test fires (With a string. Behind safety glass!)

Tolerable results = you were able to type a message afterwards! :P

@muddyhotdog4103 Some Somali pirates were captured. They all had AKs. All the sights were set to the longest range, despite not a single pirate was ever observed to take aimed shots. They all hip fired or just held the gun out with stretched left arm and no shoulder contact. When asked about the dials they reported that guns shoot harder when set to the biggest setting.... Now imagine Chinese soldiers who may have seen a muzzle loader prior to these. They were issued swords and spears in general and only squat leaders might have gotten a pistol. I imagine they were treated as "boom sticks". Mostly to scare. It's not exactly like .32 ACP is the most lethal thing in the world anyway...
