It would be stupid not to. Because once the limited run production is over, the rifles which has the correct scope will rise more in value than the scope alone is worth. Kinda like "an all matching gun" from the era where they serialized every part is worth more than one that's coupled together from parts.

Jesus man... you pretty much just confirmed that this is a thing because you really wanted one for yourself.... and that's pretty effing cool! :D

It's a STENAG mount, so it will only fit on NATO rifles.

If you plan on holding on to it for 30-40 years... yes, absolutely. Especially if you only shoot it on occasion.

@johnalexander2349 If you have sufficient funds, and don't trust the stock market to not crash regularly, placing money in collectibles (or, say, art) is a sound business strategy. You're not taxed on the increase in value in most countries as it falls under "sale of private property". You can be 100% sure that "The Fireplace Guy" that Ian often visits to showcase immaculate examples of frighteningly rare guns is a firearms enthusiast.... but with the sheer amount of stuff Ian has been showing there you can also be absolutely sure he owns stuff "just because it's rare" and not because he's necessarily into that type/era/look/whatever style of gun. Depending on local inheritance laws it can also be an effective way of dodging post mortem taxes imposed on your relatives.

9-Hole Reviews has a complete piece on (specifically Ian's) FR-F2 where they show the "fleur de lis" type range finder and explain how it works. Well worth the watch. Henry and Josh are always entertaining.

@TzunSu When you're talking collectibles that's the wrong way to look at it. You're a romantic if you buy an FR-F2 anyway, as you can get a brand spanking new Accuracy International rifle that outperforms it in every single way for similar money.

It only becomes free when you sell the rifle... but you're not going to sell the rifle, are you? :P

The rifle currently costs 8k and is a collectible. If you just want to shoot a magnificent rifle with the best optic you can afford the FR-F2 is not for you. You can get something brand new from Accuracy International in the same price range that outperforms the FR-F2 in every single metric while still retaining the "Sniper Core" credence as AI was the supplier of the both the British 7.62 and .338 Lapua Magnum sniper rifles.

I'm Danish and too broke to own such a rifle (or scope). I still watched because I think it's super cool that Ian has gotten himself the reputation and reach that he can pretty-please ask Scrome to do this... and then help them succeed.
