  1. This is a prime example of "just fix it up to what we need" mentality going waaaay too far. There comes a point where going back to first principles, and take every lesson-learned ticket you have, is the only way to get what you actually want. I understand the appeal of wanting to reuse existing tooling for as many parts as possible.... but the AK is such an ancient platform, and several cost saving measures are so integral to it, that it's simply at the end of time.
