@thecommissaruk You actually have a really good point. If you load this thing correctly and fire it you have a handheld pipebomb that makes normal pipe bombs look like cherry bombs.

Until you get a dud blank. Then you have 5 seconds to throw the weapon behind pretty significant cover. If it happens on the first grande you'll have 5 grenades going off at once, or one grenade going off flinging 4, now primed, grenades everywhere.

@oscarjosefsson9300 It does not remove any safety pins. As Ian explained it can only fire the impact activated variant of the hand grande. You hit the top end against a stone/wall/the butt of your rifle and throw it, as now the 5 second primer has started and there is no turning back.

You'd have to have a whole different kind of trust in your blanks if you cook the grenade. If you get a dud blank when firing normally you'd still have a little less than 5 seconds to throw the thing and do an olympic-worthy leap in the other direction.

@spudnikflyover1227 Considering how mad (or desperate) you'd have to be to be using it in the first place... I'm actually not sure the leap is that far, all things considered... And it has probably been done because Corats.

Ian apparently didn't explain it super clearly, as you're like the 50th down the comment stack that didn't get that this does not use the kind of grenade that has a pin-and-spoon mechanism. It uses the kind where you "bonk" the top of the grenade on something hard, and then you throw it because there's no turning back.

Uh.. I think "hand grenade tosser" is the appropriate term for this. Or "Hand grenade tosser for people with suicidal tendencies" perhaps.

@tihomirrasperic My personal record is 72 meters. But the arc needs to be so extreme that it can't be done with the 3.3 second type the Danish army uses without making an airburst that is also dangerous to yourself. Frankly I'm not entirely sure this 5 second type would hit the ground either.

Not with the pins removed. This is for impact activated hand grenades. They don't have pins or spoons. This is the kind no sane army would have in the first place. If you have those on your webbing and you take a hard tumble you convert your "stash" into a suicide vest. WWII taught us to not ever do that again...
