  1.  @Florkl  It has happened plenty of times that the industry heavies finally come to their senses and make a royalty free industry standard, and everyone else just switches. We don't have all the details of this yet, but a 12 months exclusive with Glock does sound like Aimpoint has decided they want to do the right thing, but the biggest manufacturer they could partner with wanted a pound of flesh in return.

  2. If Aimpoint does the right thing, and release the exact specs to the public, then we will effectively have a universal standard. The problem will arise if they try to make it some licensed shit. But by the sound of it, a 12 month exclusive period with Glock was the price they had to pay to get a major manufacturer on board form the onset.

  4. Ian can command people's attention for 18 minutes (or 18 hours if he needs to). Marketing reels needs to have a wider reach, and brevity is, unfortunately, a key part of that.

  5. Aimpoint needs to release the exact specs for the mounting as an open standard. Every handgun manufacturer needs to be able to offer slides in this system, and every red dot manufacturer needs to be able to interface with it. This will lead to more Aimpoint sales, provided they stay at the front of the pack and don't go hamfisted on the price.... Which it sounds like they are specifically trying to avoid with automated manufacturing.
