It was clear that language was a problem. He stopped dead in the tracks a couple of times because he realized he couldn't fluently translate what was in his head, so he just quickly came up with a simplified version.

At 4000€/$4600 it's "not hard" to make an absolutely phenomenal gun. Slovenia has fairly low labor cost for European standards, so having the machinists go completely space cookie on dimensions and surface finish, without the cost ballooning to the stratosphere, is still an option for them. Or in other words: When mass manufacturing is out of the question you can always fall back on raw craftsmanship.

@Joe-by3bu A wha? It's been shown many many times that a tilting barrel pistol needs to be machined to quite tight tolerances to be accurate. Groups from a gun rest don't lie. You can't train your way out of a wallowed out or cheap gun just like you can't buy your way out of training.

When not specified, and expensive as frig that usually means "something-something Aimpoint".

If I can get cold beer with that sausage and accordion folk music I'll happily come visit! :D

@plumberhero So would I. I'm absolutely nowhere near a good enough shot to warrant anything more than a Glock 17... But I reeeealy love good mechanical craftsmanship. Exquisitely made watches, cars, engines, tools, guns, etc really tickle my fancy. And this gun is right up there. It said all the right noises when operated :P

@pootinhammer I blatantly speculate that on both the Alien and this one the barrel is going to be wallowed out to below-target-shooting-demands well before the locking mechanism becomes a concern. They're both incredibly high quality pistols, so when all is said and done it's probably going to come down solely to user preference and budget.

First you compare the prices, then you compare what more do you get with the more expensive one. Then you make a judgement call on whether you A) even need that "more", and B) is willing to pay the markup for that "more". In this case the "more" is a nearly infinitely adjustable trigger in stead of just basic adjustability, and very high machining standards over a more mass manufactureable approach. Both are target pistols that share the same basic frame design and operating mechanism, so obviously they are comparable. That you swallow you mustache in utter sticker shock when you see the price of one, and not the other, is another matter entirely.

@AjackLee4 You're going to end up paying your gun smith almost the same amount of money in hours and parts replacements if you want a Beretta 92 to have as light and crisp a trigger pull as you can set this one for. And if you think that any old trigger, that doesn't feel like gravel, will do just fine, then you're SO much not the target audience in the first place.

If the grouping in a gun rest says it's more accurate than a human shooter will ever be able to exploit, then the specific action only matters from a durability perspective.

Which is why Ian asked specifically for a comparison against it.

That guy needs to start using a gun rest... He is not nearly as good a shot as he presents himself to be, so giving guns accuracy remarks because he was having an off-day is absolute BS.

Internal rails is pretty much a standard in Europeans guns at this point. And it's not exactly like there's a third place to do it. The tilting barrel is well over a hundred years old. The "no copy" remark was obviously directed at the trigger pack.

It's obvious that eventually he will get though every existing firearm and will have to focus on new developments....

I've honestly never met those. But I've met plenty of the "I played Call of Duty and now I pretend to be special forces at the range". It's kinda hard to fancy yourself a high end competition shooter when you can't put a full magazine in a pizza between your feet. It's much easier to be delusional about all the subjective tacticool crap....

@selectionn You don't have to be rich to afford a $4000 gun. It's the price of a spruced up gaming computer with peripherals. I've probably spent about that on my motorcycle project over the last three years.

@christopherwestern9223 This guy is all over the comment section with "If it's expensive it's a scam" in so many words.

Get a second hand CZ that looks to be in good nick and take it to a reputable gunsmith for a "once-over and assessment". That won't break the bank, you'll have a great shooter, and you'll know beforehand which replacement parts you'll have to prepare for as the round count increases.

@3of11 For one handed target shooting at 25m, probably not. At that level you need a hand fitted grip and balance. But for reaction shooting or timed shooting this looks like a perfectly fine gun. Whether you want to pay 4k for that trigger pack and fitment is an individual choice (that is often dictated by income).
