  1. This concept, with a lot of development, could be very successful, as it saves on stroke length to have this "upstairs/downstairs" system. If the cartridge lift height could be brought down to just, say, 5-6mm more than the footprint of the case the receiver would also be less tall. All in all, I could see mechanism be developed into a very compact general purpose machine gun.
