  1. There is no perfect tire tread pattern either. If you want all the grip you get no draining capacity. So now you're only fast on dry road. Heck, I'm no race driver and I switch between summer and winter tires because I find the compromises with all year tires to be too much. In engineering there often is no perfect solution. Only a set of tradeoffs you can massage until you find the best compromise.
