  1. It's generally accepted that doing something is better than doing nothing. That's true most of the time..... Most of the time. Where it goes bad is when you do the wrong thing, the stupid thing or the rushed through, knee-jerk, ill thought out, reactionary thing. This is a war that's going to have to be fought militarily yes, but also diplomatically and financially. As much as the US may not want to, it's going to have to listen to and collaborate with, the local Mexican authorities and there's going to have to be some give as well as take. It's true that there is rampant corruption in the Mexican government but there are also very many who'd give anything to see this matter solved. If the US decides to go at this by purely military means, it's going to discover that these newly designated "foreign terrorists" are going to respond in much the same way as those which have been previously designated as such..... They will simply disappear, blend into the countryside and carry out retaliatory strikes at the times, in the places, and in the methods of their choosing..... And like before, the US will spend billions on the effort... and ultimately fail. As well, it's another lesson.... if anyone is willing to learn it.... about that whole business of letting things get way out of hand before endeavoring to address them.
