@gabb05 no no boj was never fighting deflation.. over 30 years mostly were zero point something inflation and occasional deflation due to negative interest policy introduced in 2016. Did you miss the term Japanification.. essentially it low growth expectation which means the banks forced companies to delay forward activities such as product development, capital investment and technological change.. you might confuse with deflationary mindset meaning majority of people in Japan believe that prices should be kept as they are now so therefore saving per household has remained high over 30 years. Plus Japan domestic supply chain is much more efficient considering a small island
