  5.  @jwu1950  not quite the same meaning That idiom (not an adjective) means "arrogance based on one's social position" In West term, condescending means the passive aggressive prevalent behavior, it doesn't't always about one's social position.

  8.  @jwu1950  Often enough Chinese overreacted like being condescending but they seem not knowing why that sounds unpleasantly irritating. They keep repeating in public spaces and that's how I found out that word is non existent unless you would help point that out directly
