This isn't a clear picture. For one, Igbos do have Oil, Anioma in Delta, Abia, Imo also have Oil. What Igbo doesn't have is Sea access. Another is that Igbo have central location in the Niger-Delta. If they want to have an easy time uniting and/or controlling all the Niger-Delta, then the would need Igbo included. Also, all these complains are even worse under Nigeria, at least the first Biafran republic had to make compromises with Efik, Egaham and Ijaw to work because those are the larger tribes following Igbo. The same thing happens in Nigeria as upon Hausa is the biggest they still have to work with Kanuri, Igbo and Yoruba but can Ignore the rest. So a Biafran state can't just Ignore Ijaw, Efik and Egaham will at least get the same compromises that Yoruba and the other big tribes get from Hausa. But again, that is assuming Biafra works like Nigeria, which it won't as the restructurimg ideals is strongest there so it is most likely to operate as a Federation not the current unitary Nigerian system.

In relation to France breaking up Nigeria. The Igbos are not a coastal ethnicity and while they do have Oil most of the oil is off shore and among the actual coastal ethnicities (Ijaw, Efik, Ibibio, Ekoi) etc. They also are currently having an issues with their identity as many Igbo sub-tribes are in the process of breaking off the identity. (Ikwerre and Ika have gone the most in this process). However, they have a central location relative to the coastal ethnicities so advantage on them there.

@total3117 that would work under ideal conditions but I don't think anyone has both the power and ideology to succeed in that. At the very least we could lay the foundation for such by trying to get super national unions like the EU or AU to operate more and more like coherent states, then the few of those unite later down the line.

@kolawaleojomo6817 okay also, While Igbo have oil it isn't as much as the Niger-Delta minorities, however most oil drilling in NG is offshore now so no tribe can really claim that.

@DeGoya it doesn't matter how many skeletons the Europeans have, it doesn't change the fact that Islam has almost as much. Anybody that is distrustful of the Europeans because of their imperial history should be just as terrified of Islam and the Islamic world
