What if Tang continued their expansion into Central Asia after the Battle of Talas (None of the rebellions that followed after that crippled the dynasty). What if Viking expansion took them all the way to West Africa, establishing trade routes btw West Africa and Europe through the Atlantic by 1000 AD. What if Portugal and Ethiopia allied to destroy Mecca and what if the Ottomans conquered Rome.

@danielfazlan4769 I disagree on the claim that Christianity is Greek Paganism. Like Christian Theology has some Greek philosophy but Christian Dogma is all development from Jewish dogma. Even the trinity that people look for as evidence for Paganism in Christianity, we see precidences in contemporary Judaism of the time, where some Hellenic Jews had a trinity like appreciation of God btw God the Father and two of his major attributes and some non-Hellenic Jewish sects had taken to appreciate the Angel of the Lord along side God like a sort of Duonity.

@hxyzazolchak I think it is much more than that. If it was just corruption they would have solved it. For 1, I don't think Nigeria is supposed to be one country, maybe 3 or more. There are also other factors like a major North-South divide in just about every economic or cultural factor. Among others that I can't remember.

Central Asia was Turkic and Chinese influence had been entrenched as far as the Tarim Basin and Tang China held an amount of Turkic influence which is what allowed them in the first place to conquer the steppe and will allow their influence to more readily penetrate Turks.

@adamnesico So the Abbasids were Based in Iraq and China in Northern China so I would argue that they are both about equally distant from Central Asia, which is part of the reason neither directly controlled it, but China had the resources and man power to garrison places in Central Asia while the Abbasids didn't.

@briaormead4239 Yeah, Nigeria is looking more like it would collapse. But if it is economically valuable enough, the West could try and stop that but even that doesn't help too much in practice.

@soniccz100 No matter how you put it the West is special in what it did of recent the same way the Middle East was special when it first invented Civilization. Like the recent dominance of the West isn't just the usual new Empire replaces old Empire as we have seen since antiquity. Like a good way of seeing it is that someone from the middle ages could easily adjust to a Bronze age village life. But today, someone from the Middle ages, hell even from just the early modern era cannot adjust to modern life easily. Like when a society is responsible for this kind of complete societal shift it did do something special. The only real caviat to me is that while the West is disproportionately responsibility for the modern world, it isn't individually responsible for it.

@wendshawn9435 last I checked something like 80% of the English are Y-chromosomal Anglos. Not even the Arab expansion has such a tilt.
