There is a counter-argument that cohabitation and sex before marriage, especially if one doesn't end up marrying that partner, increases the likelihood of future divorce and two-way abusive behaviour. Some of the corollary evidence might actually be measuring other factors that lead to divorce but the above counter-argument exists
