What if Tang continued their expansion into Central Asia after the Battle of Talas (None of the rebellions that followed after that crippled the dynasty). What if Viking expansion took them all the way to West Africa, establishing trade routes btw West Africa and Europe through the Atlantic by 1000 AD

U know, Legalist Qin

Well, I think someone being open about their Bias is better than hiding it.

From this article "Japan, Britain and the Yellow Peril in Africa in the 1930s", Ethiopia was trying to grow a strong relationship with Japan (and a weaker one with Britain Russia). Any chance that this could have become an actual impactful alliance, like if Italy doesn't invade at when it did or if Japan is able to supply the Ethiopians well with British and to a much lesser extent the Russians allowing such to pass thru their controlled territories.

Qin China was Atheistic of the Legalism tradition and many Confucian and Buddhist ones are arguable Atheistic. I doubt Buddhism would jive with modern Atheists since it still has elements that could be considered supernatural, less so but still existent with Confucianism and Legalism is probably the only truly Atheistic system but fell after 1 guy's rule.

There's weren't really super powers (in that no power had global influenced). And tho China was a consistent great power, several comparable powers rose and fell in other regions from the Umayyads to the Vijayahana

@eastsouth9548 Taiwan has revoked it's claim on the mainland. Also, you cannot really compare China's current antagonism on the world stage to any other power, like calling the Brazilian president an animal at one time.

@eastsouth9548 whether you like it or not, China insulting heads of states and civil servants makes its image worse. At a time when the image of Western countries is already worse, China is helping that not be too damaging for them by making itself (the only real alternative to the west) make its image look bad as well.

2nd point is the weakest. Nobody is saying that Chinese people are uniquely for better living conditions while everyone else isn't. But that this is the exact human want that the Chinese get in exchange for letting the CCP run things. And the 2nd point about the cultural revolution not upending thousands of years of Chinese Tradition seems more like an argument that that was necessary than that that didn't happen.

@ugur2444 That's why they didn't do the basic requirements to join in. I get modern Turkey wants to be part of Europe and Asia but not the Ottomans.

I mean, Atheist and Irreligious aren't necessary the same things

I mean, true but Europe was also prime for an epidemic or something similar at that time. The Black death wrecked there more than Indian or China.

Whoa, whoa the 2nd point is a misrepresentation of the video. He didn't suggest China should colonize Siberia, he just said that given China's demographics, China might attempt that. In the case of Siberia colonization by the Chinese does not necessarily mean genocide as it is sparsely populated. You could fit half a Billion Chinese people there without killing anyone. By that Logic the only reason Han Chinese are the Majority in Inner Mongolia, Xinjiang (plurality here) or Taiwan is that the Chinese genocided people there, which is not true. Those were sparsely populated areas that modern agriculture allowed for a higher population and that potentia population growth was rapidly taken advantage of by the Han Chinese. Same would apply to Siberia.

@ironboy1023 Okay, I don't know about Central Asia, but as for Siberia, it is very certain that the current inhabitants aren't using the agricultural potential of the soil to its full potential. Like all it takes is to compare the population of Chinese Manchuria vs Russian Manchuria and you get a like 10× population different in favour of China and much of that area has been part of the pre-historic Mammoth steppe. Just felling a few forests would expose very well developed soil. Some Russian scientists are even doing this just by reintroducing grazing animals and feeling a few trees, the land become much more productive for grass and shrub growth. Convert that to plants and you would see huge population growth. As for Central Asia, at the very least you could see a dynamic similar to the over seas Chinese in SouthEast Asia.
