What if Tang continued their expansion into Central Asia after the Battle of Talas (None of the rebellions that followed after that crippled the dynasty). What if Viking expansion took them all the way to West Africa, establishing trade routes btw West Africa and Europe through the Atlantic by 1000 AD

Yeah, he was lazy and just copied and pasted his part about "what if Timur never existed there". And that made him Ignore the lack of Mongols influences.

No, Russia isn't descended from Mongolian culture, they just reacted harshly to the Brutality of Mongols. They are still a mixture of Orthodox Roman, Swedish and Slavic (Slavic being the main).

@horationelson2212 I think the Turks would still conquer the Byzantines but more heavily brand themselves as just a continuation of Rome.

The argument for that is from his what if Timur never existed video. Which is that the Ottomans would have a 50 year headstart with which they could take down Austria in time.

But would Nestorian Christianity of the steppes (Naimans and like two other Turk tribes) and Manichaeism of the Tarim Basin, survive? (Western Liao even had both). Given that it was the Mongols converting to Islam and migrating the tribes that ended them. Also, didn't the Mongols push more Turks into Anatolia so is there any chance that Byzantium could survive with less Turks?

Watch the What if Tamerlane never existed video

I doubt China would remain divided. Eventually either the North or south would break into civil war, the South is too feeble to conquer the North but the North is militant enough to conquer a broken up South

I personally think it is more likely that eventually when the Southern Song falls, it will fragment into different states and be conquered by a Northern dynasty. Like the Song are not going to be able to conquer the North even if Fragmented but the North, with all the Steppe nomads that it would have to protect itself from would remain martial enough to conquer the South when it fragments.

I think instead Poland would form a Union with Hungary who wanted to expand into the Steppe also.

What if it is something like WWI then WWII occur like 50 years early so that the ideal of rapid Euro expansion is already soured by the time they wanna colonize or they just don't discover Quinine in large quantities until those wars wreck things.

So what? Does Roum become Turkey in this timeline?

Apache, Inuit, Vikings and a few others came later. I guess Mega Fauna wound have lasted longer but evidence suggests it was both humans and climate that killed them, so some would still be extinct

It would definitely be the South that would half Industralize, not the North.
