  2. The sanctions shouldn't really matter when they are in the communist Bloc which half the other world was in. It isn't like communist countries traded with capitalist ones (when they could afford it) and that caused no issues for capitalist countries. And on Korea you are wrong. South Korea by far saw the worst of the Korean war and lost any megger industralization that occured before. Nigeria of all countries had better industry than South Korea in the 50s and that was a colony made for resources to be siphoned off to Britain. As for East Germany, it was the core of German intellectualism and Protestantism so I do find it odd that it would have been less developed. Then again West Germany had better geography for that and the Soviets weren't kind with the Germans when they conquered them so I wouldn't be surprised.

  3. The only major thing I would fault him on is that the modern era is just so much more populated than the past. Using the average percentage dead would be better than absolute numbers.

No matter what you type the fact remains that East and West Germany and North and South Korea were on similar development as the other and in the case of North Korea even better off than its analogue. So they have approximately equal starting conditions with the only real variable being Capitalism/Communism. Look how that turned out.

I Nazi ideology itself was somewhere between neutral of religion to anti-christian. Hitler even has a quote where he was ragging against the febbleness of Christianity and wishing the Germans had a more militants religion and he definitely hated the Catholic and Lutheran Churches.

  9.  @ahmadfrhan5265  yeah, Christianity came to most of Africa after colonization, in one of whatifalhist's analysis videos he even said it itself but I can't remember the book I got it from now. In Western Christianity, Jesus is white because for most of History Western Christians have bee almost entirely white, same reason that Hatian and Ethiopian Christ is Black, Chinese and Korean Christ is East Asian etc. Do you even know what the justification of most of colonization of Africa is or that by the time of colonization of Africa irreligion was already a common thing in the European elites, even Nieztche had already said the famous "God is dead" phrase. The justification of colonization in the industrial era had always been prestige and darwinistic. And don't use Timur as an example of anything, it is well documented that he explicitly targeted middle eastern Christian communities in his rampages and even Muslims weren't safe from that warlord either.

  19. But commies did hold several African states. Ethiopia, Somalia, Tanzania, Mozambique, Angola, Burkina Faso, Ghana(kinda), Sudan etc. Edit But no state ever was just left to consolidate. The Romans in history were practically always at war, still succeeded, America was also very frequently at war after the revolutionary war first North Africa then Britain invaded just a few decades after their independence in 1812, or look at China. States never consolidate in Peace and none of these communist countries had conflict bounds above that that their more successful capitalist neighbours had.

  22. Separation of state and religion is something that started in Europe at least, since Christianity became it's state Religion and the hard separation since Liberalism. Communism played no part there.

  26. As for the "civilizing mission" while I don't know of the countries themselves it still remained a driving ideology for the missions in Congo, Uganda and Southern Nigeria. However, ideology and real direct motivation are two different things. The real direct cause for the end of colonialism might be economic while the ideology can still be Civilizing

Like Straterism and Liberation Theology instead of Marxism Distributism, Neo-Mercantilism and Georgism being the more famous forms of Capitalism. Pan-Africanism being an actual significant political power in Africa and the global south. Etc

  31. I think another secular Socialist ideology would have taken over. After all, God was already "dead". Any upheaval to the structure will just end up with some secular ideology becoming prominent. (Then again, in your timeline here the secular/Atheistic ideology that would take over might be a right/Capitalist one instead).

  32.  Luís Andrade  I was more quoting Nietzsche who already said "God was dead" in the late 1800s and society wasn't yet fully aware. Given his predictions on the horrors and nihilism that would follow in the 1900s after the "Death of God", I think his predictions were not only correct for for the most part unavoidable without any huge changes one way or the other.
