You know, I knew atrocities were commited by Biafran troops here and there but this puts things into context. Apologies to the people of the South South. Also, I guess they were pretty on the money on Ojukwu being tribalist. He could have done so much by just appointing an Edo solider to head Benin, probably one of his biggest blunders in the war, same with the execution of Banjo and Ifaejuna, if they actually plotted against him, stuff like this was the exact reason why they plotted against him, if he just didn't always need to have his way and compromise with other people he could have built a better front. And I get why he would trust people from his tribe more given the circumstances but giving the people from other tribes their own area to do their thing while their success be tied to Biafra's success (Like giving rule of Benin to someone else) could have solved most of his issues.

I mean, saying like this makes it look like Biafra was an Igbo nationalist state, which it wasn't. Biafra was a gulf of Biafra civilizational/cultural state.

And we Biafrans should have been prepared for that.

So far, not too well.

@azeezedo-omozuwa1820 Okay, no. We can agree to some extent that Ojukwu is tribalist but you are exaggerating it to the sky and above. Boro was killed by Nigerian troops not Ojukwu and Ojukwu imprisoned him for rebellion not because he was an Ijaw. And the idea of an Igbo person being tribalist to an Ijaw person is ridiculous. No two tribes in Nigeria are as interlinked by marriages as they are. There is some beef between Anambra and Imo-Abia Igbos but again, you are exaggerating it. For one, its mostly just non-Anambra Igbos being annoyed with Onitcha and related groups claiming to higher than other Igbos. If Ojukwu so hated them? then why the good treatment of they and Western Igbos when he was in control of the region, why the great effort spent in protecting the territory from the Nigerians?. As for Anti-Niger Delta claim, u know maybe he didn't love Niger-Delta as much as he loved Alaigbo but if he was so anti-Niger Delta, patriotic Niger-Deltans like Effiong wouldn't have been on his side.

@daveedmuhammad572 Yeah, we should be smarter about it next time around

@sirsimone1524 And Agbor, like Ngwa are an Igbo sub-group. Edit. But wait, Agbor is Western Igbo so they are from the "Republic of Benin" territory, so they're indigens to that country, so I can't just call it simple tribalism. Either way, Ojukwu should have been smarter about it, given the optics.

@adebayoolubunmi2201 "Long live Biafra" Is something I would expect from an Easterner not a Westerner. And Nigerians often have names from other tribes, Ijo often have Igbo names, Igbos often have Ijaw and cross river names, an Igbo man was even named Kaduna once upon a time.

@sonofnok2153 Well, I am a suspicious fellow. But yes, I am highly skeptical of Ojukwu

Amen, brother.

"Why did the Pope write regarding the 18 captured foreigners but was unmoved regarding the rest of the war?" Because both Nigeria and Biafra had declared war on it other, by the norms of war, they had signed away the lives of their soldiers and put the lives of the civilians in semi-contractual danger. The foreigners were not part of this. This is why he wrote for foreign workers and didn't do anything about the foreign mercenaries.

@sirsimone1524 "Ifeajuna and banjo was insubordination on Ojukwu and made Biafra lose the war for their betrayal to overthrow Ojukwu and reconcile with Gowon" I have mostly agreed with you but I have to disagree here. Ojukwu was too inflexible.

@sirsimone1524 Um... what I have read about Banjo and even this video itself is that there wasn't any clear evidence presented that he was planning a coup. If there's evidence that clear that he was planning a coup I won't complain about his sentencing but I have never come across it, not even in this video. I still say that Ojukwu must not have been leading things well for that kind of thing to happen(if it did), given Banjo himself fled from the Nigerian government trying to kill him, only extreme circumstances would make him be turning back to Nigeria. Ojukwu should have been better with organizing his subordinates.

Including much of the heroes of the Biafrans.

@abdulrahmanazaks4342 Tell that to Buhari and army assassinating UPP leader and refusing to hold a referendum on S.E.

This is cope, stop coping Ojukwu tried and failed at best this 300 myth only makes sense in the continued fighting after the blockade was established. Even then, the lives out our boys wasn't worth the 1 more year.

@bisimedia Wait? You're from the East?.

@Femi- The Pope was literally part of Joint Church aid, the union of church organizations that rescued most of them that survived.
