@irritatedanglosaxon1705 Lol China controls something for 3 seconds and its "Chinese" Since the fall of the Tang, no other ethnic Chinese dynasty has controlled Xinjiang until the CCP. The Greek Empire would have had as much rights to it if there was a greek state controlling the region today.

@QWERTY-gp8fd direct trade with China in general implied accepting some official vassalhood. But you are right, even this doesn't necessitate that the Philippines were vassal to the Chinese, however like with Japan, Vietnam and Korea, several Philippine states absorbed Chinese systems of government and characteristics. Like the Mai and Pangasinian Huangdoms, even their official description of "Huangdom" comes from China.
