@Vappy1 It's neurological not psychological so it can't be tricked. You can hydrate through an IV so dehydration is not an issue. The scary thing is dehydration isn't really much a problem because the disease will just kill you 100% before you die of dehydration.

you have to think about why he's not drinking the water. It's not that he physically can't drink, it's that the water causes pain and hence fear.

I'm assuming this is to test whether he has hydrophobia or not.

Most is a gross exaggeration

@anenfairy4996 Most of those cases are technically survived, but remain in a vegetative state. The one case people talk about is the one that faired the best but still can't really walk with difficulties speaking. There's no case where you survive and live any kind of normal life unfortunately. It's progress but isn't comforting.

@amaritineenthusiast the sad thing is, "worked" is generous. Most of the survivors remain in indefinite comas, and the few active survivors are left with significant brain related disabilities. And most just die even with that treatment.

they do, dehydration isn't the biggest danger. I'm assuming this test is just to evaluate his symptoms.

that's rough. But hey, they may have saved your life!

Yeah dehydration is not an issue with rabies patient with IVs. This is probably to test if he has hydrophobia and evaluate the symptoms. Unfortunately, there are no effective life saving measures. The only treatment is an experimental method where they put the patient into a braindead coma and try to revive them after the disease has run it's course. But most still die and the survivors and either left with severe brain injury or are stuck in permanent comas.
