True, videos like these have such value for visualization even for people already deep their STEM fields. This is why it's sad there was that whole movement done by internet elitists to try and make Veritasium out to be a fraud because of that one electricity video that caused confusion. Mob mentality really sucks.

My hope is that this video leads curious people and bridges them over to channels like PBS spacetime that dive deeper into these subjects.

@swaggery Of course, people did put in the effort. But since the inception of the concept of black holes, it's very obvious they would be difficult to observe considering their size and "blackness".

@origamipostit he's referring to the people almost 100 years ago. Of course, now they have been observed.

@aldunlop4622 It's true for "normal" sized black holes, you would get spaghettified. But for a supermassive black hole, the change in gravitational field is gradual enough at the event horizon that a human sized object wouldn't be torn to shreds.
