@mosubekore78 What an odd assumption. It's a decades old problem which had larger companies stumped, the earlier management understood that R&D would take time. Tbh, the newer management did too, but wanted to control his direction in research despite not being scientists. None of the actors in this story were dumb enough to cut R&D budget because they knew the rewards of a potential breakthrough. I don't think it's arrogant of him to believe that he knew which direction of research was more promising compared to a son-in-law executive.

The video did a great job presenting and building up to that moment showing Nakamura with the blue LED in hand. That moment hit me.

@Ubersicht True, on the other hand, I'm very grateful that these videos are available to the wider public and draw so much traffic and interest. These are the type of results that make me feel promise for the next generation.

He does periodically drop this type of video. The channel is diversified with a few video format like on-site interview tours, but these videos are the real gems.

@sciptick This problem with this type of attitude is you get too comfortable and focused with what you know, when the real problems are what we don't know. I wouldn't say 'they don't tell you'. The video is about the development of the first usable blue LED and is of suitable length. Info about innovations since would take more time and isn't naturally in the scope of the video.

@NiceEyeballs The comment didn't target or mention anyone specific, it was only talking about general trends in society. I agree positivity is great, but I wouldn't say that bringing up society issues is the same thing as spreading hate.
