  1. The misunderstanding comes from the myth that glass flows slowly over hundreds of years making old glass panes thicker at the bottom. Obviously glass looks like a solid, that's why the myth that glass is a liquid is so intriguing, because it is unexpected. It's pretty easy to understand why people would believe the myth, because it would be hard to test and disprove that glass doesn't flow over hundreds of years.
