This was intensely concise and interesting. You covered the geographical, natural, historical, cultural, economic and climatological aspects of the region all in one sub 10 minute video. Might be a tad info dense but very impressive.

Man, so much was covered here. This was actually insanely concise.

These videos always have very interesting insights. I especially liked the fact about the Firs that can endure liquid nitrogen with no problems.. Super fascinating stuff.

Short sighted outlook. The will to understand things is the only reason people start scientific study. We'd still be caveman without this will.

I think it's just that the video essay format is something that gets associated with conspiracy theorists. The conspiracy theorists try to emulate the vibe of presenting real information.

@casualearth-dandavis I think the only thing missing from this video is an explicit explanation of westerlies and easterlies and how they influence climate. It was definitely the part that it click for me on the subject.

@scrung He's not saying that the physicists would actually disagree with the climatologists. Just that it goes against a physicists' natural intuition.
2
"You can google it". Yeah and google will lead you to videos like these that explain it. That's the point of these videos lmao. To explain why. Even if it's obvious that latitude is not the single factor, it's still interesting to explore why the arctic is the way it is.

Looks like the algorithm is finally picking this channel up. Well deserved. The only downside is that there's an influx of climate change deniers, flat earthers and creationists in here. Also, armchair "experts" claiming 'I didn't watch the video, but obviously it's because *insert crackpot theory here*.

I may be misremembering, but when I subbed a month ago I swear this channel only had a few K subs. Now it's grown many times over despite no new videos. Sounds like the algorithm is finally making this hidden gem channel go viral.

@scrung True, entropy always wins...eventually

@jamese9283 Siberia is pretty hellish in Summer. Full of mosquitos, and it's actually hotter than a lot of coastal temperate summers. It's a pretty dry area to begin with with westerlies that prevent any moisture from the pacific reaching it. Most likely it would turn into a desert if it got hotter like the Gobi to the South of it. So yes, they would complain.

Seems like it's finally happening. It's great, but I forgot the downside of an influx of climate change deniers, flat earthers and creationists comments all over the place.

Climatological research is always evolving and progressing. It's unlikely all the information would've stay the same the past 50 years.

Pretty good idea. What I appreciate is the quality of the research in these videos. Other popular channels explaining similar topics are also good, but often there are moments of poorly researched and misleading information being presented, I haven't seen that on this channel yet.
