Yeah between telling a good story and being entertaining, what more does a movie need to do? Why do so many people care about painstaking realism? People just want something to complain about I guess.

@tyean12 It's very obvious he's talking about well spoken compared to the way he talks in the press conferences. It's in the next part of the damn sentence ffs. It had nothing to do with race until it was brought up.

Come 2 Success ""The whole problem with the world is that fools and fanatics are always so certain of themselves and wiser people so full of doubts"" That's kind of Firaz's problem though. If you listen to all his points, he is very deadset on his own philosophy. He is not doubtful. When they were talking about randomness, he states randomness is just based off ignorance, nothing is random. But there are so many aspects in quantum mechanics and entropy that are random as far as we know. You can assume it's just that we aren't advanced enough to calculate it yet, but it's also possible it's random. We don't know. Firaz even go as far to say that he hates when scientists talk about randomness. The scientists are simply considering all the possibilities, whereas Firaz already has his own philosophy on the subject and states it as truth.

@joeking8789 Yeah, to me it seems like Firaz is presenting valid points, but misusing them to support some conclusion he wants to argue. Like the statement he keeps repeating "science is just as woo as everything else". The valid points he presents is that nothing in science can be 100% proven, so there will always be some "woo" in science. However, just because there is woo in science doesn't mean it's as woo as everything else. I think overall, his real motive is to use the idea that everything is a mental construct (basically this whole video was just him trying to explain solipsism) to make the argument that religion is just as valid as science. We can see his wordsmithing when he says science is the "faith" that the future with act like the past. And in the end, when he says with this train of thought science can be woo and religion seen as truth.

The fact that Jones got caught multiple times for PEDs and GSP was outspoken against PEDs, even submitting himself to higher than required testing for the Hendricks fight is all we need to know.
5
@billmilligan7272 He had a point about masks, but then used it to push some crazy, sensationalist agenda the rest of the video.
5
This is a man who said the movie blackhawk would have to be 50 hours. So by that logic, saving private could only be accurate if it was 6 years in runtime.
3
Yeah, it's funny that SAS got so butthurt because Joe actually gave SAS more credit than he deserves. Saying stuff like he's knowledgeable in other sports.
3
Why is the punctuation so random here
3
Yep, this is a what a good scientist should do. He doesn't let his ego get in the way. I wish more people would accept just how much they don't know.
2
Most of the world feels even more lockdown than Germany right now. But the reason why Germany has done so well is extensive testing from the beginning. Slowing the spread.
2
The one good point that Joe made. "It's a fascinating yet impractical exercise". That sums up this podcast.
2
What it boils down to is that the whole video was just him explaining the idea of solipsism and seems to be a supporter of this philosophy. And that's pretty much it. He didn't say much else at all.
2
@athuldas4959 Omg two people believe different things! Now they have to fight.
2
True, this man is far from humble. Especially when you see the whole podcast.
2
Which is why I have a problem with him repeating "science is just as woo-woo as everything else". Science tells us 'what' but not 'why'. But accurately understanding the 'what' is really important. There are plenty of things in the world that don't accurately deduce the 'what' at all. If he said, there is woo-woo in science, I have no problem with that, but him falsely equating the amount of woo-woo to everything else seems like intentional misdirection to me.

Fucking idiots in the comments. Bill gates is like one of the only rich bastards in this country actually doing good. Putting impactful billions of dollars into charity and medical research every year. Not like all the lobbyists and that billionaire president passing laws and policies that only benefit those rich fucks blatantly in front of the nation. No good deed goes unpunished I guess. Because now he's some sort of Bond villian according to the crazies in the comments.
2
he's only saying it to emphasize how everything else people are doing is destroying the jungle.
1
The first half of the conversation is really not intelligent.
1
Yeah I get the feeling he's trying to use the idea that everything's a mental construct, which isn't refutable by science, as a way to make a subtle argument for religion. It's really a misuse of the philosophy.
1
You really saying this when the US has the worst outbreak in the world right now? The daily death count is the worst right now. The fact is the US spends twice as much per capita on Healthcare as most developed countries, yet it has terrible life expectancy and coverage compared to those countries. It's a broken system and there's a reason no other developed country in the world is following is following that example. Why isn't anyone copying it if it's so great.
1
@molasorrosalom4846 How out of ideas are you that you respond with the same statement and don't address any points. Covid spreads regardless on any Healthcare system
1
@American Nacirema why wouldn't I admit that, I'm not American and both your parties are corrupt sellouts.
1
Yeah this is fucking crazy. Like at least the flat earth movement was a small thing. It seems like a fuckton of people believe that BS plandemic video. Anti-vaxx is crazy now. All these people saying they won't watch Rogan anymore. I really hope they do so we won't see them here again.
1
9:43 What kind of standard is this for accuracy? 50 hour movie? I suppose documentaries are not accurate either because they don't show you the entire time sequence. It's inconceivable for any movie to be accurate even in theory by these standards. We should be talking about accuracy within the context of what a movie actually can be.
1
Depends what neighbourhood you're in, but that's an easy way to get killed. Road rage incidents are one of the most common sources of assaults and homicides.
1
You have no idea how difficult it is to prove how these factors effect the virus. We don't totally understand the effects of the virus itself yet. Please stop with the irrelevant info. There is under reporting in China because it's an authoritarian regime with no free media. It has nothing to do with air pollution.
1
Americans are a funny bunch. It seems they want to protect the interests of billionaires more than the interests of everyone else. It's like they don't know how to vote for their own interests.
1
Isn't that the most normal thing in the world? You're basically saying he only disagrees with people who are less informed than him and agrees with people more informed than him. He's not an expert, if someone is more informed than him then he shouldn't refute them, that's called being stubborn and ignorant.
1
If MMA wants to be a serious discipline, you can't have a multiple time confirmed cheater as your GOAT. What are you gonna tell me Ben Johnson is the best sprinter now? There's a reason why you get stripped when you test positive. Plus, his arrests and charges against him would've gotten him banned in most other sports already.
1
Yeah, people gotta realize if MMA's GOAT is a person who has tested positive multiple times, then it makes MMA seem like a joke rather than a serious discipline. We need standards in this sport.
1
I was dying at 14:50 when joe says 'what are you talking about eddie' and eddie says 'who knows?'. Sums up his thought process.
1
I like how there conspiracies in these comments about how he got his money. When everyone in the world uses his products pretty much. Not much of a conspiracy there lmao.
1
Who knows, but this quote makes it sound like he's some WW2 vet or something. Getting punched isn't exactly the reality of violence compared to firearms and bombs.
1
Pretty much any atheist in real life that you can meet on the street. You've probably been perusing argumentative comment sections too much.
1
then he learned about facts
1
It would be good if that was what he was trying to say. But he specifically said there is just as much woo in science as anything else. Of course, there is woo in everything because nothing can be 100% proven, but that doesn't mean the woo is equivalent everywhere. The argument he made for it being equal, essentially meant he had to go down the path of everything's a mental construct basically just solipsism. And I suspect based on his wordsmithing of the word faith and when he says 'there's a place you can get where religion is true and science is faith' is indicative of his actual motives, even if he wasn't trying to outright go there.
1
@veritasetaequitas983 There's no way you can be well-informed about everything.
1
@vanisteicht2523 Yep, people are just overreacting to the word ignorance because the word has a negative connotation. I'm sure the quote, "Not knowing something can be a gift. It gives you the opportunity to learn something, if you're humble enough." would not cause such a reaction, even though it means the same thing.
1
Yeah basically the whole video boiled down to a really long winded explanation of solipsism and little else. At least Joe had one good thing to say about it, "it's a rather fascinating but impractical exercise"
