@Kriliska Exactly, I used to view sales as a dirty practice, but after a few years at a grocery store, I came to realize that it's not inherently, it can be done in a way that isn't, it's just that most businesses want the money now and really don't care about later or whether the customer was happy with their purchase or not.

@Smileyassassin47c That gets a little complicated, usually, US companies are not subject to EU rules, however, the EU doesn't necessarily take that view in some cases, which makes it kind of dicey as to whether it's worth risking or not. So, some American companies will just go along with GPDR regulations, even if they don't technically have to because neither them nor the visitor is in the EU just to avoid the risk of having issues in the EU.

The part about this that always made me uncomfortable is that it's effectively impossible for most people to know if they're getting their money's worth out of it, as by definition most people have no idea where their data is going and how many people have it.

@aephos.overwatch There are a few, but most of them are much more targeted in the channels they sponsor and usually it's for niche products. But, like things that you start seeing cropping up on a lot of videos are probably either a scam or there's something to really look for about what they're doing or how they're doing it.

@VioFax It's a shame that there have been so many scummy salespeople out there that that becomes a completely reasonable response.

@fiiral5870 They don't have to comply if they don't have a presence in the EU. If they don't have a presence, there's also basically nothing that the EU can do to enforce it either. That's just how it works. It's far too confusing if companies can be hauled into court in random parts of the world where they aren't present.
