Being outed remains an issue in the US. You may have chosen to out yourself and to do so consistently, but people still lose their jobs because they were outed. I was fired by UPS earlier in the year following homophobic bullying because a coworker realized that I wasn't straight. I was given no meaningful possibility of defending myself and they refused to tell me who had filed the complaints. This was literally hours after my supervisor had given me a glowing review. So, perhaps for some people being outed isn't an issue, but unless you're going around with it tattooed on your forehead, people are going to put two and two together at unexpected times and you don't necessarily have any control over what the outcome is.
