  2. Yep, this isn't a rightwing thing, Shoeonhead covered it and she's hardly a rightwinger. Yes, because there's no better way to fight hypersexualization of girls is by spending 95% of the film hypersexualizing girls only to have a very short bit at the end which implies that it's against that. And yeah, it's disgusting and rather anti-Muslim at that.

  3.  @mof5490  It's difficult to completely avoid sexualizing children if you want to have that message, but from what I've heard from credible sources, not TYT, they went well above and beyond what would reasonably be necessary to do so.

  4. I'm curious as to how showing bare breasts and girls wearing panties isn't hyper sexualizing. They may tell themselves that this is a movie trying to fight against hyper sexualizing young girls, but they themselves hypersexualized those girls. The US does have some weird hangups when it comes to kids and sex and the combination of the two, but the "message" they claim to have been trying to make was always going to be overshadowed by the controversy. And they don't seem to have understood that the plot didn't require this level of exploitation.

  5. Nobody should be watching that film. If it is intended to prevent sexualization of children, it does a really poor job of it.
