  1. It's not kissing arse, it's recognizing that you've been caught dead to rights and not digging yourself in any further. It's somewhat unpredictable in situations like this whether the cop is going to issue a ticket or just a verbal warning, but if you resist arrest by running away, you're getting a ticket at absolute bare minimum, and more likely arrested. This isn't just American cops, cops in most parts of the world are going to chase suspects down and do what they need to get the cuffs on them while they figure out what's going on. The only things that are different about America is that we've got more firearms and we've got a relatively large minority of people that think that the cops never have the right to approach them for minor infractions

  2. What these videos demonstrate is not what the black community is saying. What it demonstrates is that being caught breaking the law, disrespecting the police officer and then running away or fighting ends badly. This is something that I was taught as a child. Don't run from the police or fight with the police. Answer questions as shortly as possible. And for heaven's gate, don't commit any crimes when the police are watching. Videos surfacing where black people are just randomly pulled out of their car and beaten for no reason are few and far between because it's a rare happening. Cases where black people are pulled out of their car and arrested for being surly and refusing to obey lawful orders are much more common because it's much more common. Something does need to be done, but blaming the police for things that happen after the suspect has forced their hand is questionable. Yes, the beating was more than what probably should have happened, but it misses the point that there would have been no violent arrest had he just taken the ticket option that he was offered.
