  1. The issue is that they haven't done anything real about wages, and they haven't done anything about giving people alternatives to fossil fuels. What should have happened 20-30 years ago is a ratcheting upwards on gas prices until nobody could afford it. Over time, the vehicles and the like that could use other fuels would be more attractive. Instead what's happened is that we've subsidized fossil fuels, and when the prices do go up enough to make a difference, demand drops, price drops and then people go back to using all that oil. Instead, there should have been a tax of some sort whenever the prices did drop like that to be used to fund efficiency improvements to get us off oil completely.

  2. He's not smart, the Democrats are just too corrupt to try. They definitely could get him to toe the line from time to time, they just don't want to. They need him to foil the things that they didn't really want to do in the first place.
