@MedicalAutonomyProject That's not an accurate description of the Canadian health care system. These things happen everywhere, except that in the US, you'd likely also be out of pocket for the follow up care unless you could afford a good lawyer to go after them for the damages.

@Nuttymike That happens in every system everywhere and as you're implying, it's not a valid excuse for the US system being better. It's the best if you've got the money to pay for the best, for the rest of us, it can be deeply problematic.

Absolutely, both situations can be fixed, it's just that the people who make the decisions don't want to. It never ceases to amaze me that the same people that are so hot on sending in military personnel are so cold to the notion of paying to clean up the mess afterwards.

Except for political corruption, I don't see any reason why the health sector should involve so many profit making entities. The only people making money should be the people doing the work for the time and effort they put in as well as reasonable profits on the medicine and supplies. There is no good reason to allow for profit entities to siphon all that money out of the system without contributing anything. But thanks to the GOP and the "pro-freedom" folks along with the corrupt courts, it's not likely to improve anytime soon.

@notchit3542 Don't forget about the money that they're going to send to the Israelis. It wouldn't surprise me if it dwarfs what the Ukrainians get.
