  1. That Germantown joke needs an apology. Even now, fully a century after WWI and over 75 years after WWII, the discrimination due to the intense propaganda effort hasn't yet fully subsided. I was literally almost kicked out of college because I was "too German" to be a teacher. It was barely coded at all with fairly explicit references to racial stereotyping that wouldn't be acceptable to any other group other than Russians in this day and age. Complaining about it got me nowhere because there's been so much effort to dehumanize us over the decades that it's more or less what you get for choosing to be born German in America.
