That's the thing, the politicians wrongly think that the voters don't want whitecollar criminals sent to prison or that we don't get what they're doing. We do and we want them in prison even more so than the folks that do go to prison. A rapist or thief might ruin a few lives, but those white-collar criminals sometimes destroy the lives of hundreds of people.

Yes, and we wonder why it is that we have so many career criminals. I had a coworker that got fired a few months back for failing a background check. She had disclosed the fact that she was a felon, but ultimately they let her go. With all the fees associated with being convicted and the lack of job opportunities, it's really hard to see how anybody manages to get free once they're in the system.
