I think that's more or less the nail in the ocffin in terms of any good faith argument that the Nazis were anything other than a form of fascist dictatorship. But, I do think that even without that, the elements of Italian fascism are simply too good of a match to come to any other conclusion. Most of the socialist elements of National Socialism were arguably more about building and consolidating power than the benefit of the people.

@chachacha2023 No, it's not, if you've actually bothered to read Marx, you would know that he just thought that the workers should own the means of production, that there shouldn't be a ownership class in society. Whether that means the government owns everything, or a collection of smaller ventures competing with each other that are individually owned by the workers, was not something that he dictated one way or the other. His ideology was much more flexible in the implementation details than many people realize and a lot of that has to do with when he was writing. He didn't have nations where the central government owned everything for the alleged benefit of the people to study. He wouldn't have known much beyond conjecture about what happens when it's from each according to his ability to each according to his need. Marx for himself did marvel at capitalism, he just recognized that the separation of those doing the work from the products of their labor was an inherently dangerous situation that would lead to the exploitation of those doing the work for the benefit of those that owned the means of production. He didn't have an inherent issue with trade and competition between different companies, just how the proceeds were split.

@chachacha2023 But, national socialism isn't any more socialist than the People's Democratic Republic of Korea is democratic. Yes, the Nazis did, early on, engage in public works programs and charity to help the people, but that wasn't their end and as soon as they had consolidated power they moved towards projects that were pretty much just about the building of the myth of Germany and the Nazis. And, people certainly didn't have the level of control over what went on that you'd typically expect out of a socialist nation.

@realryanchapman I assume that the confusion is because they were going to wipe out all the other races over time if they were allowed to. But, it is worth noting that the borders of Germany were expanding as they took over more parts of the world, and likely would have eventually included the entire world had they been allowed to keep expanding. It does lead to a little bit of grey area, but I don't think that there's enough to justify putting race before the country. I think that if race did come before country, you wouldn't have necessarily seen the national boundaries expanding the way that they did. Some of those areas likely would have wound up as territories or satellite nations rather than actual physical bits of the country itself. At least not right away, perhaps eventually, but absorbing other regions is a longer term project normally.
