@Gfish17 Around here, $12 an hour would leave you homeless. We have homeless people around here making minimum wage 40 hours a week.

Simply, extending the $300 to those that have been working under such conditions would go a long way towards solving the problem. I've been working in a grocery store for nearly the entirety of the pandemic, and for most of that time, people on unemployment were making more money and not even required to engage in job search or self-improvement activities the way that they normally would.
