  1. The student loan interest rates are egregious at this point. The top rate is over 10% and there's no guarantee that the degree one seeks is going to result in a job that can pay it back. I'm going to WGU right now and they've done a pretty good job of keeping the cost down, but it's more or less completely online and that doesn't work for a lot of people. The assumption that you can get meaningful financial aid to make up the difference just isn't the case for many students.
