@20PINKluvr Privilege? They aren't that expensive. I've got one at both ends of my hallways and they're like 15' apart. (The second one was probably installed there because it's right next to the bedrooms)

@cheesygerit2299 Installing your own smoke detector is neither expensive nor particularly complicated. It's typically just a couple screws into the ceiling for the mounting bracket. I'd be surprised if there aren't any charities that give people the detectors for free just to avoid the issues that come from being killed in a fire. After all, you're never too old to die in a fire.

I've been wondering about those. Also, have a smoke detector. They aren't that expensive and the local fire department might even have some to hand out for free. They might even install it for you if you can't install it yourself. It should never have come down to that little girl figuring out to go get her dad to deal with the fire.
