@Entertainment- They don't really need ventilation as they tend to open the windows at night. Air conditioning though is far less useful if you already intend to open your windows at night, have good insulation and the temperature drops enough at night to allow you to exhaust all the heat that built up during the day.

It doesn't make much sense for more open styles of architecture to use central heating. In this case, they'd probably be better off with infrared systems built into either the floor or the ceiling as they can be powered on and off more quickly and are better suited to the conditions described in the video.

That's one possibility, another would be installing infrared heating. That's probably what I would recommend for this situation as it heats things pretty quickly, but mostly just heats the surface, not the air itself. And the height of the room makes relatively little difference. I've got an IR heater that I'll use when I'm cold while I wait for the heater in the room to get to where I like it.
