I hope they are rescue so that the governments involved can go after their assets to cover this foolishness. There are people that die on the streets every year from exposure because there wasn't any shelter for them, but we're spending I'm not even sure how many tens of millions of dollars on this rescue attempt because they were too arrogant to take the risks seriously.

thazfff Between the lack of water, the temperature down there, the oxygen levels in the sub, the likelihood of them being alive at this point is pretty much zero. Even if they are still alive, it looks like they're on the bottom where it's going to take far longer than they have to even attempt to retrieve the sub and for whatever reason, whatever beacon they have isn't working if they're on the surface. Everybody wants them to be alive, but the fact of the matter is that the likelihood at this point is more or less zero. There's a very real chance that even if they do hang on that they'll die knowing that their bodies will be recovered and nothing more.

@@Walkingnluv Yes, hunger is not an issue, but while my grandfather made it nearly 2 weeks without any food or water, it's not unusual for people to die in as short a time as a couple days. And hypothermia is even faster. They should have appropriate clothes for the bottom and are probably huddled up as close to each other as possible, but just being that cold can deplete the oxygen levels faster as their bodies try to remain warm enough.

The odds are indeed long, between hypothermia, dehydration and the increasing CO2 and decreasing O2 levels in the sub, the likelihood of them even being alive tomorrow morning are not ones that I'd want to take. Time will tell if they're actually on the surface, but if they're not, the likelihood is more or less zero for a successful rescue of living passengers.
