You're not weird that is common, it's just not the only reason for people to have trouble sleeping. Just count yourself lucky that therapy can address all your problems when they happen.

Does it actually take 2 hours, or do you just think that it takes 2 hours. I used to think that it took hours for me to fall asleep, but when I hooked myself to the, sadly now out of business, Zeo sleep monitor it showed that it was actually just the normal 20 minutes, it just took several hours for my brain to stop thinking. It's probably because I experience dreams as thinking rather than as something obvious like images and sounds.

@TheStubertos Melatonin is for short term use, it can cause issues with the eyes over the long term. I've personally had good luck with either Celestial Seasons sleep tea or Natra sleep from GNC. They both work pretty well and don't seem to mess up my sleep architecture.

@prestonjones8672 There's also riboflavin, vitamin b-6, it's what my doctors recommended. But, really, doctors should be recommending cognative behavioral therapy as one portion of the treatment plan as migraines are definitely impacted by what and how we think about them. I rarely notice mine any more, until I look around and everybody's got auras.

There's no reason to cut back that far, and a few reasons not to. For one thing, coffee removes the calcium that could become kidney stones. It's also great for the liver. You have to drink a lot of coffee before it's an issue, providing that you drink it early enough in the day to not mess with your sleep.

The 4pm rule is somewhat arbitrary. It may be earlier or later depending upon your personal biology. But, unless you're getting poor quality of sleep and a trial run without coffee later in the afternoon improves things, there's little reason not to. And, in some countries, it's common to be drinking coffee into the evening, so the clearly get no sleep. :/
