Honestly, it's not dangerous. Quicksand is more dense than a person is, the absolute worst case scenario is that you get stuck and can't get out. More likely, you'd be stuck and it could take ages to get out on your own. As long as there's somebody nearby, you've got nothing to worry about.

@jakedee4117 It gets complicated because club membership doesn't necessarily require that you engage in lawful activities at all times. So, you can have clubs where it is mostly people who are just lovers of bikes and like family, but have a few that are involved in criminal activities. I've personally got no interest in joining of those clubs as I'm more of an independent spirit, but, much of what is out there is absolutely wrong or outright purposefully made up by law enforcement to make it seem like they're not wasting taxpayer dollars on personal vendettas. I haven't personally encountered any Angles, but when I go to the big biker run there's always a booth for the Banditos and you probably wouldn't know those guys were in a club if they weren't wearing their gear.

@kommisar. it took the US decades to get to the point where they could make use of such legislation. If they had tried it in the 20s or 30s, it likely wouldn't have worked.

@megans7504 It was a dummy round for that close up shot of the revolver. There was a small pop at the time that wasn't investigated. Meanwhile, they sent the expert responsible for maintaining the safety of the firearms home early. Ultimately, the blank + the bullet lodged in the gun were just as effective as a real bullet.

There's a difference between letting one woman touch the stuff and thousands of people a year touch them. I was surprised that they let just random people hold a real Oscar.

This is one of the main reasons why there are so few signs at the WB studio, just about every part of the studio has been used to film something at some point. Often times, you wouldn't realize that it was just a regular studio building with a few temporary signs.

@hard_drive.system From what I've seen at both Universal and WBs, most of the stuff on the backlot is repurposed over and over again. The stuff that's just left to rot is mostly stuff that is of an extremely specific purpose that can't be redressed for a new movie. It'll rot just due to there not being a particular reason to clear it out between uses. That's more or less what happened to that ruined facility from one of the Jurassic Park sequels.

If you're ever in LA, one of the TCM sponsored classic movie tour at WB Studios goes into the warehouse. You don't get to see everything, but you see a lot. Every item in the warehouse has an asset tag attached that gets scanned any time that it's moved and there are probably periodic scans of everything to ensure that they don't have things unexpectedly missing.

@harleys5601 Keep in mind that they also have some of Batman's vehicles in the studio tour, so any time that they decide to change which one is on display, it would temporarily change the number. There may also be times when one is being removed for a cleaning or for promotional pics.

It sounds to me like this video is of the archives, you were in the props warehouse. And I really wish when I was a kid it would have occurred to my parents to go on the other studio tours rather than just Universal. But, then again, we mostly went for Disneyland and that's clear the other end of LA from the studios.

Take the tour, you won't necessarily see those, but you get to go through a portion of the props warehouse and there's a couple buildings worth of museums with other props. You may have noticed that the Batmobile from Batman Forever was missing, it was in the museum when I visited last summer next to the Batwing and one of the Bat Pods from the Nolan Batman movies. Also, the Mr. Freeze costume looks really impressive in person.

@sure1376 Yes, most significant props have several versions made for various reasons including wanting ones that are scale for when the sets make use of camera tricks to make themselves larger, along with the fact that having a spare in case one breaks can be useful.

They have an original Bat pod in the WB museum portion of the tour and a couple replicas that visitors can sit on and be green screened into Gotham City.

@duckentity4515 You're both kind of right, these are all owned by WB, but a bunch of this stuff gets seen in non-WB productions. One of the reasons why WB is likely to remain in the long term is that they don't just make money from their own productions, they also make money from renting their props and facilities to other companies. It makes the WB studio tour so special as so much of it can pop up in any TV show or movie filmed in the US. For example, the scene in the original Jurassic Park movie of the T-Rex chasing the jeep was filmed there when a storm forced the production to leave Hawaii early.

There's too much. If you take either of the studio tours there are a couple buildings full of props you get to see. And the classic movies tour allows you to go into their warehouse to see a bunch of the stuff that's still available for various people to checkout for use in new projects. There's a bunch of stuff including the piano from the Casablanca TV show and some of the suits that the agents wore in The Matrix. So many chandeliers and desks.

@kyngcobra3584 I think the main issue was just the amount of stuff in their archive and their prop warehouse versus the space they have for their museum portion of the tours. The amount of stuff in the museum is a tiny, tiny fraction of what they could put in there.

They have a museum. There's a bunch of stuff on display and I'm not really sure how much more they could put in their museum without having to expand. Given that it's in the middle of a working studio, they don't exactly have much to work with. Plus, this is just the archives. It's mostly stuff that can't be reused later on. There's an entire prop warehouse full of stuff that can be rented.

I could be wrong, but I have a feeling that they took advantage of that time to do a full and complete audit of the facility to make sure that everything was where the system says it should be. Given how easy it is to socially distance while doing that and the drop in demand for use of the props.

@dannnarutam TBH, taking the studio tours and visiting a taping/screening is probably a much better use of time in LA than Disney is.

The archive is special, the props warehouse can be visited by anybody willing to pay for a tour that includes that as a stop. It's well worth it IMHO.

@Melora.Perseous Priority mail is kind of a scam. You never know if you actually got the service you paid for as it's just priority over the other mail. So, it's entirely possible that the mail got there in the same amount of time. And, despite the days on the pieces, most of the time there's no guarantee of a delivery on a certain day.

@superdupert6 Really? I've had far more trouble with the private companies than USPS. The main issue I have with USPS is that the delivery times can border on fraud. That priority mail may or may not actually arrive any quicker and isn't guaranteed to get there in the specified time frame either.

Yep, they used to deliver 7 days a week and multiple times a day in major cities. But, yeah, they don't just shut down because it's Sunday. Sunday is a sort of catch up day for all the behind the scenes stuff that isn't directly delivering things.

A zip+4 number gets a letter far closer to the ultimate delivery address than people realize. If there weren't so many addresses, a letter carrier could just about deliver it with just that information and a name. Of course, that would take a lot of time and be error prone, but for the occasional letter or package it works more often than one would expect.

They're in position they are financially because congress sabotaged them at the behest of UPS and FedEx. They're also required to deliver first class mail for the same price, no matter where in the country. Something that the private carriers don't have to do.

@C_Kava Happens, and sometimes mail falls behind a machine without anybody noticing. It's amazing how infrequently letters are lost in the mail just because of how small they are compared with the size of the buildings they travel through.

@troodon1096 Possibly, but when I was at the studio a couple months ago, they had the Batmobile from Batman Forever out of the warehouse and in their museum. There's also the issue of whether the Bat Pod counts as a Batmobile for similar reasons.

You don't. You'd have to have an extremely large patch, walk all the way out into the middle of it and tire yourself out trying to struggle to the edge. In other words, you'd have to work very hard to get stuck. Around here we have holes that are covered up by vegetation and if you step in the wrong place, you can fall in and be very hard to find. It doesn't happen very often, but occasionally people looking for mushrooms will just disappear. And because they rarely tell anybody where they're going, the likelihood of being found is very, very low.

Yes, and I highly recommend anybody going to LA consider stopping by Burbank to take the tour. I had no idea just how much IP they own either completely or just in terms of the film rights. Being able to see a Bat Pod and then ride on a replica in front of a green screen was amazing. The photo opportunity to sit in a forced perspective mockup of a building from the Shire was also awesome. As banal as it may have been, getting a photo from replica sets from Friends and Big Bang Theory was kind of fun.

That's why things like that are not left unattended. Either they're locked up, or there's a person that's physically watching to ensure that nobody mixes the breakaway props for the real thing. I suppose somebody could do it on purpose, but more likely, somebody could accidentally set something on the table that looks like the prop. There was a time when the breakaway stuff was much more obvious and leaving things sitting out might have been reasonable, but that was decades ago.

@underworldfilms86 yep, traditionally, they got their money through things like crates falling off of trucks, gambling, booze, protection rackets, insurance fraud and all sorts of other rackets. Much more direct and harder for authorities to track. I'd assume the rule was to avoid having to explain where that money came from in the first place.
